So, here we are with one such overwhelming story of one such famous and trusted tyre manufacturing brands of all times. Continental tyres have been in this industry for a considerably long time. In 1871 it was established in Germany’s Hanover city. The main motto of the company has been to transform ideas into reality. Continental Tyres Shrewsbury has been working hard for innovation and growth. They have always aimed at making transport and mobility more straightforward, risk-free and affordable through their various technologies and systems. Not just that, owing to Continental moving has become convenient and customized.

But their journey to reach their place at present was not a cakewalk, and they had their difficulties. It was the first German company to make pneumatic tyres for bicycles back in the 19th century. A wild horse was first seen with the name of the company in 1875 influenced from the Hanover’s then coat of arms as found, although there is more to the story. Later in 1882, this became the trademark of Continental Tyres. This trademark is the symbol of strength, agility and endurance. The story goes like this that hoof buffers were produced and distributed very early after Hartmann, a vet invented them. Each pack of it had that symbol of a rampant horse on it which was perceived by the people as the symbol of Continental. There is also a more significant cause for it as the namesake of the company, a thoroughbred racehorse, was found in the coat of arms for the 14th century Dukes of Brunswick-Luneburg.

The company chose Hanover as its centre of tyre manufacturing pretty wisely. This city was a busy industrial region with various business establishments, mills and plants. This was also the first city to be well connected with the rest of the country through railways. So, in the 19th century, Hanover was the perfect place to start up a business with international goals as well.

Owing to the natural growth of the corporation, Continental started manufacturing tyres for automotive after bicycles. In 1901 Continental pneumatic tyres were fitted for the first time in the Karl Benz’s Mercedes. There is more to it as it also became victorious in the Nice-Salon-Nice, racing over 414 kms in just 6 hours and 45 minutes setting a record. This event also helped in popularizing of the brand to its fullest, resulting in its increasing demand for tyres.

Development was one thing the company never stopped doing, which is why shortly after such victory, in 1904, it brought out its first tyre with tread patterns. Consecutively, it invented the detachable rim for sedan cars in 1908; provided aeroplane materials like the fuselage and more to Louis Bleriot’s aeroplane; the launch of cord tyres in Germany for the first time in 1921; use of carbon black in tyre production as a reinforcing agent in 1926, and more. Till date, they have not bunged innovating and developing for betterment. The heritage of Continental Tyres is the exact proof of their indomitable spirit.

Today it ranks among the top tyre manufacturers in the world as they chose to keep transforming with time.
